Help Staff a Weather Refuge (Cooling Center)

Thursday, August 31 to Monday, September 4, 2017
Hart Senior Center (915 27th Street, Sacramento, CA 95816)
Shifts: 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm, 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm
To volunteer:

The City of Sacramento, together with HandsOn Sacramento, will be opening a Cooling Center this week.  Volunteers will sign-in guests, provide water and snacks and make their air-conditioned respite from the heat a comfortable one.

Alhambra Blvd Community Clean-Up

Community Days

Adventure Playground – Maple Neighborhood Center

Shifts: 10:30 am – 4:00 pm

Greetings from Fairytale Town! Volunteers are needed to help with the monthly Sacramento Adventure Playground activities. Please wear closed toe shoes and clothing and shoes that can get dirty. It will be a fun day of building, playing, and making a mess!  While the Sacramento Adventure Playground’s regular operating hours are designed for ages 7-15, the Playground opens up for children of all ages to come and play on Community Days. Advance registration is not required. Community Days are held on the second Saturday of the month (except December and January) from 11 AM to 3 PM. Dates volunteers needed: September 9, October 14, November 11.  Volunteer shifts are from 10:30am-4pm. Community days are the 2nd Saturday of each month February-November.

Rio Linda Elverta County Faire

Shifts: 6:00 am – 11:00 am, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

This is a community event for the Rio Linda/Elverta area. Bounce Houses, Animals, Games, Prizes, Entertainment, and music are provided and free for everyone. There will be vendors, food, and raffle tickets to purchase. Volunteers are needed in all areas.

The Great American River Clean Up

American River Parkway
Shifts: 9:00 am – 12:00 noon
To volunteer:

Join The American River Parkway Foundation and volunteers from around the Sacramento area as we clean up the American River Parkway. Volunteers will clean up at one of 20+ locations along 23 miles of the Parkway.

Are you a Kayaker? Diver? “Aquatic” volunteers are encouraged to sign up as well!

Bags, Gloves, Snacks, Water and Volunteer Parking Passes will be provided.

Sacramento Clinic

Shifts: 6:00 am – 4:00 pm
To volunteer: – Dental Volunteers – Vision Volunteers – Medical Volunteers

Since 2011, California Careforce has provided free medical, dental and vision care through the delivery of mobile clinics throughout the state. At each clinic, around 500 medical volunteers serve over 1,500 patients and provide vital services to those in need.

On the 22-24th September 2017, they will be holding a three-day clinic at Cal Expo serving the greater Sacramento area. Patients with inadequate access to healthcare will be able to receive medical, dental and vision services at no cost and with no questions asked. They are in need of medical, dental and vision professionals to volunteer their time and professional expertise to help those desperately in need of medical care.

Tower Bridge Dinner

Visit Sacramento will again host a one-of-a-kind dining experience on the Tower Bridge that highlights the farmers and chefs that help to define our region on Sunday, September 24th. Volunteers are needed from 4:30-11 pm. The dinner continues to serve as a crucial fundraiser for the free Farm-to-Fork Festival. Volunteer positions include: Volunteer Coordinator Assistant, Swag Bag Stuffer, Dessert Crew, Tableware Set-Up, and Beverage Help.
