Give Thanks and Give Service

The Holidays are here! We at HandsOn Sacramento are happy to present a new set of volunteer opportunities for you to enjoy and celebrate this season.
This month, new partner agencies just joined the HandsOn Sacramento family such as Sierra 2 Center and The Laurel Foundation. Don’t forget to check out what volunteer opportunities they offer.
We are also inviting everyone to our 2nd Family Volunteer Day on Saturday, November 23rd. This is a great opportunity for families to spend time together and to make a difference in our community.
We are also bringing back the Annual Holiday Giving List, a mini-site that contains volunteer and donation opportunities from different organizations in our community. With the Thanksgiving and Holiday season around the corner, what better way to celebrate than to get into the spirit of giving?
We also added a new page for our ongoing volunteer opportunities that you might have missed on our Calendar. Check out our Volunteer Calendar for more ways to volunteer. Click the links below to learn more!

Annual Holiday Giving Program

HandsOn Sacramento’s Annual Holiday Giving Program is Back!

The Regional Center for Volunteerism – HandsOn Sacramento brings you more ways to celebrate the holidays! Give out donations for Thanksgiving Baskets and Meals, donate your time by volunteering during different holiday events and spread the love and the gift of sharing to those in need. These holiday volunteer and donation opportunities are here to get you going!
HandsOn Sacramento is also looking for agencies who are looking for volunteers and donations for the upcoming holiday season. Agencies will be featured in our annual Holiday Giving Program mini-site that will contain details of their featured holiday volunteer opportunities and donation drives. Agencies do not have to be an Agency Partner with us to be included in the list.

Family Volunteer Day at City of Refuge

The Regional Center for Volunteerism – HandsOn Sacramento
Saturday, November 23rd | 8:30am – 12:30pm
Minimum Age: 6 (with adult), 16 (without adult)
Join us on Saturday, Nov. 23 and spend time with your family! Family Volunteer Day is a global day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their communities and neighborhoods.
This project will benefit City of Refuge Sacramento, a nonprofit organization based in Oak Park. Its mission is to support people living in marginalized communities of Sacramento, and to empower their ability to create a personal transformation that will lead to a healthy, thriving community.
Powered by generationOn, the youth division of Points of Light, and sponsored by The Walt Disney Company, it’s a great way to be inspired by the power of helping others. It’s an amazing day to bring your family together to make your mark on the world. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!

Helping Those Affected by the Northern California Wildfires

On the night of Wednesday, October 23rd, the Kincade Fire broke out in Sonoma County, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people and prompted Governer Newsom to declare a statewide emergency.
There are many ways to help during the fire season. One of the many things we highly recommend is to do your research before volunteering or donating. This will ensure that your actions will not hinder the normal relief operations in place. As much as possible, PLEASE DO NOT SELF-DEPLOY.
Here are some useful links so you can determine which efforts will you want to do to help with the wildfire relief:
