Thank You, Valeri!

Valeri leads a group of Blue Shield volunteers during the 2017 Blue Shield Month of Service at Folsom Cordova Community Partnership. This was taken before the COVID-19 pandemic.

We recognize the efforts and accomplishments of Valeri Mihanovich, HandsOn Sacramento’s Director, who served in our organization for more than 20 years. Last November 2020, she accepted a position with the California Office of Emergency Services as their new Emergency Services Coordinator/Voluntary Agency Liaison for their Individual Assistance Division.

Her experience in volunteer and disaster management is widely recognized by colleagues, co-workers, and friends. She served as the Volunteer and Donation Liaison for Sacramento, Yolo, and El Dorado Counties and the Coordinator for Sacramento Region Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD). Through the VOAD, Valeri developed strong partnerships with local governments, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations and convenes the group quarterly to coordinate tabletop exercises, problem-solving discussion groups, and address current needs in response and recovery. Valeri also served as the Vice-Chair for NorCal VOAD and Local Board Administrator for the Sacramento Region Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP), a national FEMA program that allocates funds to nonprofits that address hunger and homeless needs in local communities.

Thank you so much for your amazing work, Valeri!
